The SUP Coalition is a community-focused coalition comprised of individuals
that reside or work in Sherburne County and are committed to reducing
youth substance use through community collaboration.
April is Alcohol Awareness monthand with prom and graduation season approaching, the SUP coalition and its supporting partners wanted to remind parents and caregivers of the important role they play in ensuring the safety of our young people.
Parents and caregivers with prom-aged children received this letter along with a Social Host Ordinance fact sheet to help combat underage alcohol use. Alcohol remains the most widely abused substance among our youth.
The toolkit provides tools and resources for MN school staff, including administrators, educators, teachers and health services staff, who are working to address the use of e-cigarettes and other vaping products in schools.
It outlines opportunities for action that can be taken by various school staff, along with resources and tools to help. Access the toolkit here.
AdditionalGuide for School Staffavailable here. The resources included in this guide are available free from the federal government and can help educators protect students and schools from the impact of illicit substance use and abuse.
The hands-free bill was signed by Governor Tim Walz on April 12, 2019 and becomes law on August 1, 2019. Learn more about the new hands-free law and what Minnesotans need to know using this fact sheet.

Q: What excites you about the SUP Coalition and its work?
A: The thing that excites me the most about the SUP Coalition is the actual impact it has on our community. You can see a difference in some of the students at our school and how it has changed their lives!
Q: How & why would you encourage other people in the community to support the efforts of the SUP Coalition?
A: I would encourage young people to join the Coalition for a couple of different reasons. The first reason being it's a lot of fun and it's a great way to meet new people! The second reason is because you are creating a change in people's lives for the better, and that's one of the best feelings in the world.
Q: What do you do in your spare time? Provide a fun fact about yourself.
A:In my spare time I love to hunt and fish. I also enjoy listening to some relaxing music and hanging out with my friends. I would also like to consider myself a cornhole expert!
A fun fact about me is that I have been in gymnastics for 7 years and I made an appearance in the state meet twice!
